Dancin' in the dark

Thursday, 28 December

It seems Beatrice likes to dance as much as I do. When she's cranky we do a bit of dancing in the living room with the music turned way up. Best of all though, she's also a big fan of slow dancing to country ballads..."Bama Breeze" by Jimmy Buffett, that her Grandma Elizabeth and Grandpa Bill brought us for Christmas, is a particular favorite these days. So pre-nap we often rock and two-step our way around the living room (quite a feat actually, for those who haven't seen our living room!)

In the afternoon Beatrice had a play-date with Callia, or rather I had a play-date with her mom, Elaina! We walked in the park and shopped a bit on the High Street while the girls slept in their prams. Callia is only a few months older than Beatrice, so they'll have fun playing together soon. Beatrice did try to wear the cute bear coat Callia gave her, but she needs a bit more growing first!

It was play time when Zack got home, with Beatrice watching that wooden clown as if her life depended on it (I think she just likes the cheering Zack does when she follows it with her eyes).

Then it was time for Beatrice's very first bottle. As with nursing, she took to it immediately. The only problem was that it took me 10 minutes to pump and 2 minutes for her to suck it down. And after the bottle I had to feed her more anyway. Hmmm...we'll figure this out eventually. It was funny though because she had been "nursing" Zack's forearm for a while, and you could almost see her thinking, "I knew it would work if I just kept at it!"
