6 months old!

Beatrice rung in her 6 month birthday in style - in our hotel room in Salisbury, England with Flat Bear! Getting Beatrice to lie down and stay still with Flat Bear long enough to take a photo is proving more and more challenging...

...especially now that she can sit up (and roll over) and say "Ma Ba, Ma Ba, Ma Ba..." over and over and over

Beatrice has turned into quite the little personality over the past month. She is happy almost all of the time, often smiling at people on the street until they look at her and smile (she still loves grey haired folks the best). She is starting to get a bit leery of strangers, especially if they immediately go to her and coo and fuss. But give her a 10 second warm-up from the safety of Mommy or Daddy's arms and she considers them strangers no more. So what's new for Beatrice this month? Talking - in addition to "Ma Ba", Beatrice likes to squeal in very high pitches "AiiiiiYYYYYYYYYYYYeeeeeeeeeeee" or "Haaaaagggghhhhh" quite often, or variations on the same. Sitting up - unassisted without using her arms for balance. Falling over on her nose and then sticking her rear in the air to try to right herself. Scooting on her tummy (a whole 3 inches). Twirling around and around and around in her crib at night. Grabbing our faces and looking at us. Pincing - grabbing everything in sight with her thumb and first finger (my necklace is a favorite). Eating - still just rice cereal, but she gulps about 3/4 down now. Banging things to make noise. Throwing her arm up and down for about 30 seconds at a time. Kicking her legs (ouch). Sleeping - 6pm to 6am, a few naps in the morning and the odd 30 minute nap in the afternoon. And finally growing...(weighing her this Wed - check back)

Best of all? Beatrice is starting to play. We're having a great time playing with her. Peek-a-boo, reading, dancing, doing laundry (it's never ending) - she makes doing just about anything, if not easier, fun.
