What month is it again?

Today we spent the early morning hours with Karen & Karen at the Alameda Antiques Fair. No, we didn't buy anything, but it is rare for anyone to ask us to do anything in the 4 or so hours BEFORE Beatrice's nap at 9:30am, so whenever we get an invite...we're on. So we joined them for about an hour and a half of touring. KMB bought a desk, which we all approved of. And Beatrice was an angel-baby throughout the whole morning. She actually stayed in her stroller for well over an hour and enjoyed looking around. Perhaps more outdoor antiques markets are in our future.

What struck me as we were leaving was recalling a conversation I had had with my mother the other day. I asked how the weather was on St Simons, and she replied, rather incredulously, "Well, Sarah, it's August, so it's HOT." Right, August. Please take a look at what we are all wearing to the antiques fair. Karen L is wearing GLOVES. Even Zack has on a sweater. This whole cold-mornings-in-August thing in California still confuses me. Having grown up in Georgia, the idea that you can wear jeans in July and sweaters in August is just...strange.

But the fair was cool (pun intended), also because of its location - on the old Navy airfield. The huge boat was pretty amazing. Zack says these cranes are the impetus for the big At-At walkers (??) in Star Wars.

So it did also get warm enough for a swim this weekend, which Beatrice did in her 'pool' out back.

All in all, it was a lazy / layered weekend.
