I don't know why, but Beatrice loves, loves, LOVES these little people. At first I thought it was because they must feel good on her gums (still no sign of teeth!), but she also obviously likes them for playing too. She just squeals whenever she sees them. Especially when I line them up like this.
And I can't say with certainty, but Sarah B and I have both seen this a couple of times, but I think Beatrice recognizes the people in her books, as opposed to the animals, monsters, cars, etc. - she "kisses" the people. This typically involves noises and lots of drool, but it is quite cute.
And Beatrice and Sarah B have been to the Santa Barbara Zoo a couple of times. Beatrice loves the penguins. Sarah B says she just laughs and laughs when they dive under the water.
Early mornings with Bea.
I'm enjoying getting to work some from home. My "lunch hour" from the other day - blowing bubbles in the backyard with Beatrice and Sarah B! Beatrice likes them - kinda - but she is very confused why they don't stay put long enough for her to grab them.
My favorite part of the day though is when Zack gets home, and Beatrice gets all excited that he's home, and then we all settle in for a relaxing afternoon. Sometimes this requires bribery with Blackberry to achieve.
And then of course there is Beatrice's new favorite game - chase Mommy! It's an improvement on Peek-a-Boo because now she does the peek-a-booing by chasing you around the chair. Luckily she's not that fast yet, so I'm still able to escape.
Other Beatrice updates? She no longer needs your hand to walk around. She's content to grab onto anything and start walking - your sleeve, your leg fat, your arm hair. None of these are the most reliable or comfortable ways, but sometimes Beatrice just can't wait for you to get your hands free to help her walk, so she's taking the bull by the horns, so to speak. She also now has her own cell phone. One of her newest toys is Daddy's old cell phone. She was over the moon when she saw it. We've caught her blabbing away into it. And chewing on it. The two pictures below are evidence of the other two big events for Queen Bea this week - drinking from a cup (finally!) and eating rocks. Sarah B figured out a way to get Beatrice to drink something from a cup - lay her on her back! It works like a charm. The second picture is a tear-stained Beatrice after I told her she couldn't eat rocks and took the few she had in her mouth out. Boy, was she MAD!
