Beatrice's 2nd birthday party was a fabulous affair.  Before the party we waited and waited and waited...with a Barney theme.

I am a bit of a sucker for party scenes...so here it is.  Amazingly, I still managed to miss people from the party (KMB, etc)

Happy 2nd Birthday Party

We had a fabulous birthday party for Beatrice on Saturday. Lots of family and friends, and a very happy Beatrice singing "Happy Burf...BeBe" over and over.

And chocolate cake! With animals on top!

I have a gillion more photos to post, but thought I'd share a few (with help from guest photographers Dave and Tom). Beatrice turns 2 on Thanksgiving Day this year, but everybody deserves a cake of their own to demolish...I call this one "full face eating":

Beatrice is so ready for her 2nd birthday party this Saturday...we even have party favors!

Big Day

Today was a big day for Beatrice.  Not because she learned to put feathers in her hair (Sarah B says it was for an art project)

****WARNING:  THE REMAINDER OF THIS POSTING IS ABOUT POOP - STOP READING IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE A TODDLER-LEVEL DISCUSSION OF POOP****

Nope, today was the day that Beatrice pooped in the potty for the first time!

I know this doesn't mean she is potty trained.  I know there is still a long road ahead, and I'm sure this may well be a one-time-deal.  But the door is open now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Actually I really don't mind changing diapers.  It's just that (apologies to the much older Beatrice reading this) Beatrice refuses to squat when she poops.  You go and try to stand, cheeks clenched, and poop.  Ain't gonna happen.  So sitting on the toilet is a) significantly easier and b) super exciting!  Thus we allowed her to have an ice pop and watch TWO episodes of Barney.  What?  Bribery works!  It is an excellent parenting skill, even Dr. Spock thinks so.
